Statement

As an emerging artist born in Ukraine, my creative journey is dedicated to capturing those transformative moments of natural beauty through the lens of impressionism.

Certified as an art coach, I am passionate about guiding others on their own journeys of self-discovery. I believe that art is not only a means of expression but also a powerful tool for personal growth. Through my work, I strive to help others recognize and rely on their own inner resources, just as I do in my own artistic practice.

In times of hardship or uncertainty, I turn to beauty and inspiration as a way to transcend the harshness of reality. Art becomes both my sanctuary and my compass. I often ask myself—and others—how we choose to confront or escape the realities we face. For me, art in general, for example poetry or music is a source of inspiration, infusing my visual art with a multisensory dialogue that opens new dimensions of expression.

My piece, “Swiss Sunset,” is a testament to this approach. Inspired by poetry, which tells the story of a love that never found peace—of longing and distance, as night gently overtakes the last sparks of passion. The mountain in this work is deeply symbolic for me: it represents a life goal not yet reached, a summit I strive toward with every new day. Each step, no matter how small, brings me closer to the peak.

I am also deeply interested in the inner barriers that emerging artists encounter on their creative paths. Through my research and coaching, I invite others to join me in exploring these challenges, practicing self-reflection, and diving into the depths of their inner worlds.

I encourage you to reflect with me:

What does the mountain, rising above dark pines, symbolize for you?

What has been your most challenging goal, or the greatest obstacle you have overcome? Was the struggle worth it?

I look forward to hearing your insights and engaging in this ongoing dialogue about art, resilience, and the pursuit of meaning at Instagram @mariatori_art.
